PAPOUTSANIS: 5.2% INCREASE IN REVENUE IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR – MAINTAINS TARGET FOR DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH IN 2026
Papoutsanis S.A., a Greek leading soap and liquids manufacturer and one of the largest producers in the sector in Europe, announces its revenue for the first half of 2026.
The Company’s revenue for the first half of 2026 amounted to 40.7 million euros, compared to comparable sales of 38.6 million euros in the first half of 2025*, marking an increase of 5.2%.
Exports continued to be a key driver of growth, accounting for 55% of total revenue.
Regarding the contribution of the Company’s four business segments, the breakdown of revenue for the first half of 2026 was as follows:
- ¡29% from sales of branded products in Greece and abroad,
- ¡13% from sales to the hotel market,
- ¡44% from third party production,
- ¡14% from industrial sales of specialty soap bases.
For the full year 2026, Papoutsanis’ management maintains its projections, anticipating double-digit revenue growth and further improvement in profitability, based on:
- ¡new partnerships and further development of existing ones,
- ¡the continued strengthening of branded products, as well as
- ¡developments in the European production landscape, with the reduction of production facilities —a trend that creates opportunities and has already led to new partnerships for Papoutsanis in the contract manufacturing and soap base categories.
It should be noted that, despite recent signs of de-escalation in the Middle East, the impact on international markets has not yet normalized. Prices for energy, transportation, and certain raw materials remain elevated, as the adjustment of supply chains and the return to normal conditions take time.
The Company is closely monitoring developments and has already launched targeted initiatives to limit the impact on costs and ensure the smooth supply and operation of its business.
Overview by Business Segment
BRANDED PRODUCTS: The branded products category recorded 8% growth compared to the first half of 2025, driven primarily by the home care categories.
Specifically, sales in the Home Care categories increased by 20% in the first half of 2026, thanks to the positive consumer response to Papoutsanis’ innovative products. At the same time, sales in the traditional Personal Care categories remained at the same levels as in the first half of 2025.
HOTEL PRODUCTS: The overall picture for the category was affected by reduced activity in the production of hospitality products for third parties, a fact primarily attributable to a high prior-year base resulting from spot production to meet the needs of a specific customer in the first quarter of 2025.
Overall, the category was down 7% compared to 2025, while the forecast for the full year remains positive. The subcategory of branded hotel products continues to expand its customer base, recording 8% growth in the first half of 2026.
THIRD-PARTY PRODUCTS (INDUSTRIAL SALES, PRIVATE LABEL): Sales in this category increased by 9% compared to the first half of 2025, primarily due to the growth of existing partnerships as well as the expansion into new ones.
INDUSTRIAL SOAP BAR SALES: Sales of soap bars increased by 4%, and are expected to maintain this positive momentum for the remainder of the year.
---------------------------------------------
Note: For comparability purposes, the figures for the first half of 2025 have been restated to align with the accounting treatment of trade discounts applied since January 1st 2026. Specifically, the relevant discounts to selected retail customers are now recorded through credit memos rather than sales invoices, as was the case until the end of 2025.
This change affects revenue for accounting purposes, leading to a decrease in revenue, with a corresponding reduction in distribution expenses, without impacting the Company’s ultimate profitability. Consequently, the published revenue for the first half of 2025, amounting to €40.2 million, is restated to €38.6 million based on the new accounting treatment.
